Katowice was the only missing trophy from Vitality CS team’s record
Sunday, February 9, will be remembered as one of the most significant days in Vitality's history. Within hours, the Bees secured two major tournament victories in different games. The celebrations began in the late afternoon when their Counter-Strike 2 team claimed a dominant 3-0 win over Team Spirit in the IEM Katowice final. This title, one of the most prestigious in the CS scene, was the only one missing from the club’s record after six years in the game. It also filled a gap in the careers of veteran captain Dan “apEX” Madesclaire and star player Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut, who was once again named the tournament’s MVP. Additionally, it marked the first time in eleven years that a French club had lifted the “Kato” trophy.
Just two hours later, Vitality added another trophy to its collection by winning the VCT EMEA Kickoff, the first regional VALORANT tournament of the year. Unlike their CS counterparts, the squad led by Saif “Sayf” Jibraeel had to fight against Team Liquid until the end to claim their title. Trailing 0-2 in the final, they completed a reverse sweep to secure the victory. With this result, Vitality arrives as the top European contender at the Bangkok Masters, set to begin on February 20. There, they and Team Liquid will face the top two teams from the other three regions in the VCT circuit (Americas, China, Pacific).
Carzzy congratulates them in his own way
Vitality’s success naturally sparked widespread reactions on social media, even among players from other teams. Among them, Matyáš "Carzzy" Orság, the AD Carry of Vitality’s League of Legends roster known for his playful presence on X, reacted to the triumphs of his fellow squads... in his own way: “Vitality winning everywhere now nobody will notice the League of Legends fiasco hehe”, the Czech player wrote. Whether the League of Legends season will turn into a "fiasco" remains to be seen. For now, Vitality is preparing for its first-round matchup in the LEC Winter Split playoffs against Karmine Corp, scheduled for Sunday, February 16, at 8 p.m. CET.
