Esports and entertainment organization joins the fray!
ZETA, a Spanish organization based in Zaragoza and home to many large content creators, have just bought the former slot of Fnatic Team Queso from the LVP to compete in the SuperLiga 1st Division, according to Sheep Esports sources. This move will mean the dissolution of Fnatic's partnership with Team Queso, who previously held ownership over this spot.
A New Challenger Approaches
With this move, the SuperLiga has secured its second out of three new contenders as it transitions into the next competitive year. According to earlier reports, Guasones, who participated in the league in 2023 but faced relegation, has now been confirmed to have been re-invited to replace one other SL team. Related to these news, Wizards announced this week that they will not be among the newcomers to the SuperLiga. According to sources, the LVP had extended an offer to them for one of the three open slots in the league's first division in 2024.
A newcomer to the main league, ZETA has already established itself as strong pillar of the Iberian scene. Home to several content creators such as Shadoune, Xoan Ramos, and Gomeznawer, the organization is known among several different online communities as well as League of Legends. Related to their entry in the 1st division, the team is also expected to co-stream its matches with their Spanish content creator Daniel "ElOjoNinja" Vaquero Cotilla. Outside of their gaming influences, the team is also home to famous Spanish rap freestyler Blon.
First established in 2021 within the League of Legends scene under the name Zeta Gaming, the organization is set to make history as the first to progress from the Circuito Tormenta to the SuperLiga 2nd Division and subsequently to the 1st Division. Similarly, in VALORANT, the organization saw a similar trajectory, progressing from the Circuito Tormenta and culminating in joining the VCL Spain: Rising.
During its last two years in the SuperLiga 2nd division, the team has found decent results. Most notably, ZETA went on to compete among the top teams of the league and reached a 4th place finish in spring before eventually ending their year in 5th place during the summer split, falling out of contention for the 1st division promotion tournament.
Moving into 2024, little is currently known about the scope of the team's project for the SuperLiga. Despite this, it is important to note that the team currently holds several large sponsorships such as: Ibercaja, DIGI, and Umbro and other sponsors to be revealed before 2024.
