The Turkish organization Sangal Esports, already active in Counter-Strike, is joining League of Legends by merging with Partizan Esports in the Esports Balkan League (EBL). The new resulting organization will compete under the name Partizan Sangal, with the aim to qualify for EMEA Masters. This information was initially provided by sources and later confirmed by Partizan Esports to Sheep Esports.
An ambitious merger
The merger between these two organizations marks a significant opportunity for Partizan Esports—one of Serbia’s most prominent clubs—as well as for Sangal, a well-established name in the Turkish CS scene. Both parties see this partnership as a chance to unite their respective fanbases and expand their influence across regions. The ambitions behind this collaboration are anything but modest, as shared by Partizan Esports president Jovan Mijailovic:
"While we talked with our partners from Sangal, we were on the same page from day one when it comes to ambition, understanding of our potential, and motivation. Partizan and Sangal merged will do great things and we won’t stop at only looking to win EBL."
Well-established teams
Partizan Esports is a Serbian esports organization operating as a subsidiary of JSD Partizan, the Belgrade-based multi-sport club. As such, the team is well-known and recognized within both the national League of Legends scene in Serbia and the broader Balkan region.
Founded in 2017, Sangal has steadily risen through the ranks of the Turkish esports scene. Originally based in Istanbul and now operating out of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the organization has continuously broadened its vision and grown in ambition—culminating in its entry into one of the world’s biggest esports titles: League of Legends.
A clear desire to win
After joining League Of Legends in Summer 2022, Partizan has consistently finished at the top of the standings in the EBL, even claiming the title in Spring 2023. Those performances have qualified them three times to EMEA Masters, however, the team never made it to the playoff stage, a rare occurrence for teams qualifying from minor regions. But, that may soon change, with the newly formed team aiming to build a roster that can compete on a European level. Partizan Sangal fully intends to back their vision with the necessary resources to achieve their goals — with the revamped roster set to be revealed by Sheep Esports soon.
