adamS will reunite with a former teammate, Martinez
On February 12, without providing any concrete explanation, 9z Team announced in a press release the departure of one of its most iconic Counter Strike 2 players, Franco “dgt” Garcia. This Monday, according to Sheep Esports sources, the Argentinian team finalized the signing of the Uruguayan player’s replacement. Adam “adamS” Marian will take over for dgt, who had remained loyal to 9z for five and a half years. The Romanian rifler had been without a team since the disband of KOI’s CS division, the squad led by streamer Ibai Llanos, last month.
At 9z, adamS will reunite with a former teammate, Antonio “Martinez” Martinez, with whom he played between July and December 2023 at Movistar Riders. Together, they reached the quarterfinals of ESL Pro League Season 18—eliminating 9z in the Round of 12. The AWPer then joined 9z in mid-December 2023, while adamS remained with the Spanish team following its merger with KOI in January 2024. Now, like Martinez before him, adamS has opted to move to the Americas in hopes of qualifying for the Majors.
Second recruit of 2025
However, 9z has not secured a Major qualification since November 2022, when it competed in Rio, hosted by neighboring Brazil. Since then, the Argentinian organization has failed to progress beyond the RMR. Most recently, it fell short of qualifying for the Shanghai Major, finishing 9th-11th in the American RMR, where only the top seven teams secured a spot. As for adamS, he has competed in just one Major in his career—more recently than his new team—at the Copenhagen event this past March.
The Romanian player is 9z’s second signing of 2025, following Luca “Luken” Nadotti, who returned to the club in January after more than a year and a half of inactivity on the professional scene.
