Each season will span approximately 4 months, covering 8 patches
In 2025, Riot Games has unveiled a clear and structured timeline for the League of Legends seasons. The season dates are based on Riot Games' detailed patch notes schedule, which outlines all the specific patch release dates. The year will be divided into three distinct seasons, each lasting approximately four months:
- Season 1: January 11 – April 30, focusing on the Noxus theme
- Season 2: May 9 – August 27
- Season 3: September 12 – end of the year

Each season in 2025 is expected to bring new gameplay features and visual updates, keeping the game fresh and exciting. Riot Games has designed these seasons to introduce significant changes that could affect gameplay mechanics, balance, and visual aesthetics. With 24 patches scheduled every two weeks, players can expect continuous updates that will evolve the meta and provide a dynamic gaming experience throughout the year. The seasonal structure also allows for smoother transitions, making it easier to track when major changes will occur and how they might impact the competitive scene.
The first season, themed around Noxus, introduced several impactful updates and changes to the game. Players saw new visual updates, including changes to the map, skins, and champions, all reflecting the Noxian aesthetic. Riot Games brought Atakhan to the Rift, but also new runes, the new "Feats of Strengths" feature, and the Swiftplay Mode to play shorter games. The Noxus theme brought a darker, more militaristic tone to the game, influencing both the storyline and the in-game atmosphere. Players could expect more of these thematic updates as they progress through the seasons, with each one potentially introducing fresh concepts and gameplay innovations.
