This year's skins are much better than last year's, according to Oner
During a stream on Wednesday, T1 jungler Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun discussed the upcoming Worlds 2024 skins, sharing his thoughts on them as well as on the skins commemorating their Worlds 2023 victory. Oner confirmed that his skin will be for Vi, Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong chose Varus, and Ryu "Keria" Min-seok went with Pyke. As for Choi "Zeus" Woo-je and Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok, rumors strongly suggest Gnar for the toplaner and Yone for the Unkillable Demon King.
Oner also reflected on last year’s skins, saying that Lee Sin is one of the hardest champions to get right in terms of design. He added that the champion carries strong symbolism and that he probably shouldn’t have chosen him—especially since there are already two Lee Sin World Championship skins: one for Bae "Bengi" Seong-woong in 2013 with SKT T1, and another for Gao "Tian" Tian-Liang in 2019 with FunPlus Phoenix.
Faker, best player, best skin...
The two-time world champion also spoke about the Worlds 2024 skins, mentioning that the whole team saw the preview versions, which were not final. He even made a ranking, stating that Faker’s Yone skin is by far the best, followed by Gumayusi’s Varus, Zeus’s Gnar, and lastly his own Vi and Keria’s Pyke, which he considers slightly weaker than the rest. He also praised the splash art featuring all five champions, saying it looks beautiful.
Riot Games continues to honor the tradition of awarding skins to the players who win the League of Legends World Championship, a custom that dates back to the first set given to Fnatic in 2011. The player with the most skins to date is none other than Faker, who will now reach a total of eight skins in his name. This eighth skin was dedicated to the fans, as he let them choose the champion. These commemorative skins are typically released around mid-year, around the time of MSI, so we can expect more news soon.
