Thander will be joining a Challengers network team as a full-time starter for the first time
UCAM Esports Club has finalized its roster overhaul. In late February, the Spanish club announced the departures of Maximilian “bucher” Bucher and Niko “polvi” Polvinen. Just three days later, Romanian player Eduard-George “ara” Hanceriuc filled one of the two vacant spots. According to sources from Sheep Esports, the second slot is set to be occupied by Andrej “Thander” Živanović. The 18-year-old Serbian player has been active in the competitive scene since 2021 and most recently served as a substitute for Diamant Esports at the start of 2024. In early 2025, Thander also competed in the VCL East: Surge Open Qualifier under the colors of GMBLERS Esports but failed to qualify for the competition.
Primarily a Sentinel player with experience as a Duelist, Thander will be joining a Challengers network team as a full-time starter for the first time. UCAM is therefore taking a risk with this move, following a respectable Stage 1 performance. After securing second place in the regular season, the team advanced to the semifinals but was eliminated by DNSTY, falling short of a reverse sweep against the reigning Italian champions. As a reminder, the Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese leagues were merged this season, under the name of VCL Spain.
UCAM is still pursuing its first title
UCAM concluded Stage 1 in third-fourth place, narrowly missing out on qualification for the VCL EMEA, the VALORANT equivalent of League of Legends' EMEA Masters. The organization is still pursuing its first VALORANT title, having come agonizingly close in 2024 when it reached the Stage 2 final, only to fall 2-3 in a hard-fought grand final against Barça eSports. At present, UCAM is the only team in VCL Spain to have made roster adjustments ahead of the Stage 2 kickoff, scheduled for late March according to Liquipedia.
