Irrelevant, 113 and Parus join Team BDS in the LEC
After two years with an almost unchanged roster, Team BDS are changing three of their players for 2025. Since 2023, BDS have had a clear goal: to win an LEC title. While the team has never achieved this goal, it has come close on several occasions. First in 2023, when they got reverse swept by MAD Lions in the Spring Split final after finishing 1st in the regular season, then in 2024, when they finished 3rd in both Split of the LEC.
Over the past two years, the team has tried to keep a solid core of its roster and play for the long term, changing just one player since 2023. Indeed, Yoon "Ice" Sang-hoon replaced Juš "Crownie" Marušič for the 2024 season, a change that made some people cringe, but which proved more than beneficial for the Swiss given the Korean's performances. BDS had also changed coaches, but Yanis "Striker" Kella was already a member of the coaching staff, so this move remained in line with the strategy outlined earlier.
For 2025, the team decided to change the way it worked by making three changes to its roster. Goodbye Adam "Adam" Maanane, Théo "Sheo" Borile and Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis, and hello Joel "Irrelevant" Miro Scharoll, Doğukan "113" Balcı and Polat "Parus" Furkan Çiçek.
New Faces
The first change comes to toplane with the arrival of Irrelevant. He will be leaving SK Gaming after 2 years with the German team to replace Adam, who has moved to Rogue, according to our sources. While SK's performances have not been very good, apart from the first place obtained during the Summer 2024 regular season, Irrelevant's individual performances have been much improved. In fact, he was one of the most prominent toplaners this year, which led to him being one of the “dominos” of the offseason, according to our sources. In the end, it's BDS who will inherit his services, with the aim of finally trying to win that long-awaited LEC title.
The second change takes place in the jungle, as 113 makes his return to the LEC with BDS. He will replace Sheo, who is moving to Team Heretics according to our sources. After a complicated year with Astralis in 2023, the Turkish jungler returned to the LFL with BK ROG and then Karmine Corp. At the end of a rather satisfactory season, despite the absence of a title, 113 logically reclaimed his place in the LEC and will probably be keen to make the most of this second experience in the elite.
Finally, the final BDS change sees Parus take over the support role. He will take Labrov's place alongside Ice, as the Greek is moving to G2 Esports according to our sources. Parus, one of the most promising supports of the moment, has been promoted to BDS' LEC team. Indeed, he was a member of BDS Academy in LFL this year and is coming off a particularly satisfying season. BDS Academy have established themselves as one of the most dominant Tier 2 teams in history, putting in a very strong performance: 2nd in the LFL Spring Split, semi-finals of the EMEA Masters and then the Summer Split and EMEA wins in the summer segment. Parus arrives full of confidence in the LEC roster and is definitely one to watch for 2025.
Safe bets
As for the midlane and the role of AD Carry, BDS are making no changes, which seems particularly logical. Over the years, Ilias "nuc" Bizriken has become one of the most consistent players in the midlane, making him a top choice. With a varied champion pool, a strong presence on the map and high-quality acting, the Franco-Moroccan player has everything it takes to keep his place in the LEC.
On the botlane, despite having less experience, Ice had an extremely convincing first year in the LEC. In his second split, he earned a place on the Spring Split 2024 All-Pro team and was considered one of, if not the best ADC on the LEC this year, along with Steven "Hans Sama" Liv. BDS are therefore keeping two strong elements who have proved their worth for next year, rebuilding around them with promising profiles.
