The Goldan Guardians jungler is set for a new adventure
Jungler Kim "River" Dong-woo has reached a verbal agreement with 100 Thieves in the LCS, sources tell Sheep Esports on Saturday.
River comes off a strong year with Golden Guardians. With his team, River managed to qualify both to the MSI and Worlds Qualifying Series this year. A first in history with the Golden Guardians. River notable earned a second place in All-Pro teams voting last Summer in the LCS
Golden Guardians initially considered to keep the South-Korean jungler, however an abrupt halt in their offseason spendings has put many of their players on sale. It is unclear if Golden Guardians will be fielding a cheaper roster or sell their spot. However, this allowed for 100 Thieves to acquire River.
100 Thieves are coming off a challenging year. Despite finishing third in the spring season, the team never managed to advance far in both the Spring and Summer playoff stages. This was likely disappointing, especially considering that the organization had successfully qualified for Worlds in the two previous years. As they look ahead to 2024, 100 Thieves aims to regain their competitive edge with a new roster.
