Canadian Rookie to be promoted to the LCS!
AD Carry Fahad "Massu" Abdulmalek will be promoted by FlyQuest to their team competing in the League Championship Series (LCS), according to Sheep Esports sources. After one year in the NACL, Canadian rookie will be moving up and replacing South-Korean ADC Lee "Prince" Chae-hwan.
Investing into the Future
With significant expectations to meet, Massu will be the second member to be locked for the North American organization. In October, FlyQuest announced Prince's departure. Since then, sources revealed the player's desire to return to South Korea. FlyQuest, in response, chose to grant the player's wish with the intention to promote the young 18-year-old rookie. This move will mark Massu's first entry and opportunity to compete in the LCS.
Prior to reach this agreement, sources tell Sheep Esports that Massu received interest from over 5 individual LCS teams. The player would eventually side with FlyQuest, continuing his tenure with the organization after having joined them earlier this year.
During the 2023 season, the player competed for FLY's Challengers roster and achieved a 5/6th place finish in Spring followed by a 4th place in summer. Despite middling team performances in the NACL, the young rookie impressed North American fans and earned himself the title of Summer MVP within the league.
Having only begun his career in mid-2022, Massu will be one of the youngest players to join the LCS next year. To some, the AD Carry's story-line may be reminiscent of the trajectory that former pro-player Kyle "Danny" Sakamaki took in 2021 while competing for Evil Geniuses.
While most of FlyQuest's roster may currently be unknown, FLY was reported earlier today to have also found an agreement with jungler Kacper "Inspired" Słoma to fill the team's LCS 2024 roster.
