Following Apples' promotion to the LEC, KCB will appoint Blidzy as assistant coach for the LFL summer split
Ianis “Blidzy” Paul keeps the blue... but changes jersey. Assistant coach of IziDream in the spring split of LFL Division 2, the Frenchman has reached a verbal agreement with Karmine Corp Blue in the LFL, according to sources at Sheep Esports. The buy-out amount to be paid by Karmine Corp has been agreed by both teams. Blidzy will have the tough task of succeeding Žiga “Apples” Jereb, promoted ten days ago to the Karmine LEC team after contributing to the academy's second consecutive French championship title.
A reconstituted duo
The assistant coach was in fact already part of the Karmine family. Blidzy is close to Yanis “Striker” Kella - a former member of the club who now coaches BDS in the LEC - but also and above all to Wadi “Wadi” Benarbia, head coach of Karmine Corp Blue. The two men already rubbed shoulders in 2022 on the Atletec bench in Div2. They finished 5th in the summer split of the French second division.
Although he doesn't yet have a title to his name, Blidzy is coming off a successful year and a half. After his summer at Atletec alongside Wadi, Blidzy moved on to 2023 as head coach of Project I on the Mastercard Nexus Tour. His achievements included a top 2 finish at the SLYLAN, a top 4 finish at the Gamers Assembly and qualification for the MNT play-offs. His spring was also bright, with IziDream finishing first in the Div2 regular season, before the party was spoiled in the play-off grand final by Ici Japon Corp, where IziDream was beaten 2-3.
