CptMario was Movistar KOI's second option for the 2025 LVP season
Karmine Corp have secured the individual who will lead their Blue Stars for the 2025 LFL Division 2 season. According to sources from Sheep Esports, KC have reached a verbal agreement with Mario "CptMario" De La Torre, who is set to assume the role of Head Coach. Reflecting the philosophy behind their youthful roster, KC have opted for a leader with relatively limited experience at the highest levels. The Spanish coach spent significant time honing his craft in his country’s amateur circuit before becoming professional in 2023.
Earlier in the offseason, CptMario was close to joining Karmine Corp's Spanish rival Movistar KOI in the Superliga as Assistant Coach. And while the organization ultimately preferred to choose Davide “Sotze” Di Guida, Max “Raqo” Temminck, the team's new Head Coach, praised CptMario on X. "I’d like to take a moment to spotlight CptMario, one of our final candidates in the AC position process and an amazing talent. I highly recommend any ERL team looking to strengthen their staff to consider him and review his work samples," stated Raqo. A tweet that caught the attention of Karmine Corp, sparking their interest in his profile and ultimately earning him a chance as Head Coach.
The Karmine Corp Blue Stars roster is steadily taking shape. Before CptMario’s addition, verbal agreements had been reached with three players, as previously reported by Sheep Esports: toplaner Alessandro “Tao” Hong Tao, midlaner Mathis “MathisV” Vannieuwenhuyse, and AD Carry Costin “Hazel” Pestrițu. Two positions remain to be reported—jungler and support. As a reminder, Karmine Corp have imposed a maximum age limit of 19 for players in this initiative, which is explicitly designed to identify and nurture emerging talent at an early stage.
The project was announced on November 9 at the U Arena in Paris during the KCX 4, the club's annual rendezvous with its numerous fans. The creation of the Karmine Corp Blue Stars was made possible by a policy shift from Webedia. The French League of Legends circuit's organizer has reauthorized first-division (LFL) teams to open academy teams in the lower tier. With this addition, Karmine Corp now boasts representation across the three principal levels of regional League of Legends competition: the LEC, the LFL (ERL1), and LFL Division 2 (ERL2).
