G2 secures at least a Top 2 finish in the Winter Split, while KC awaits the winner of Fnatic vs MKOI in the lower bracket final
G2 Esports secures at least a Top 2 finish and a spot in the LEC Winter Split 2025 final, continuing their dominance in the league and reinforcing their status as the team to beat this split. The Samurai comfortably defeated Karmine Corp (KC) 3-1, who will now face the winner of the Lower Bracket Semifinal between Movistar KOI (MKOI) and Fnatic, set for February 28 at 6 PM CET.
The splits go by, G2 stays on top
G2 arrived at LoL Park more prepared, with Game 1 decided at the draft. Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis picked Blitzcrank last on Red Side against Raphaël "Targamas" Crabbé's Lulu, dominating the lane and making the game unplayable for Caliste "Caliste" Henry-Hennebert and the KC players. Steven "Hans Sama" Liv only had to deal the damage with his Ezreal, contributing to 17 of G2's 20 kills. KC fought back well in Game 2, tying the series and delivering a BO5 filled with action and suspense. And action, we got in Game 3—KC overcooked their draft by pulling out Yasuo-Senna, the famous botlane combo well-known among the Blue Wall. Unfortunately for them, it didn’t work out. G2 seized the advantage and secured a match point in the series.
The final game was a stomp from G2. If KC experimented with unusual picks in Game 3, it was now the Samurai’s turn to pull out some unconventional champions—Cho'Gath for series MVP Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik, and Anivia for Rasmus "Caps" Borregaard Winther as a counter pick to Vladimiros "Vladi" Kourtidis’ Ryze. The game ended with a dominant 11-1 scoreline, with BB involved in ten of G2’s eleven kills, the gap between the two teams was simply too big. Karmine Corp will have to defeat the winner of Fnatic vs. MKOI to earn another shot at G2 in the LEC Grand Final. Fnatic, who was the favorite at the end of the regular season, must now climb the entire lower bracket for a rematch against the Samurai. Meanwhile, MKOI dreams of repeating last year’s upset against G2, but first, they’ll need to take down Fnatic and then KC.
