All multi-Worlds winners
The World Championship is the pinnacle of League of Legends Esports. A global phenomenon, Worlds is an annual tournament organised by Riot Games, with teams from all across the world competing for the prestigious Summoner’s Cup. Worlds act as a beacon of the Esports world, bringing in fans from all over the world and drawing in the largest viewership the industry has ever seen.
There have been thirteen iterations of the World Championship, with Asia as a region being particularly dominant. So, with that said, let’s take a look at the players and organizations with the most wins in the history of Worlds.
Players –
Five wins –
Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok
Faker is the undisputed best player of all time and since his debut in 2013, he has taken part in 15 of the 20 premier international tournaments, winning five World Championship titles. He won his first in 2013, after a 3-0 victory over Royal Club. The Korean legend then went back-to-back winning the World Championship title in both 2015 and 2016, winning the MVP award in 2016. After six years, T1 and Faker lifted the Summoner’s Cup again in 2023. This triumph was record-breaking, making him the first and only player to win the World Championship four times, eclipsing his past teammate, Bengi who alongside him won the event three times. Faker then won a fifth World title in 2024 with the ZOFGK roster, making the first time the same five players won the competition back-to-back.
Three wins –
Bae “Bengi” Seong-woong
Korean jungler and former “Right hand of God” to Faker, Bengi, played alongside Faker for a lot of his career. Like Faker, Bengi won his World titles in 2013, 2015 and 2016, all with SK Telecom T1. The three-time champion retired from playing towards the end of 2018. Since retirement, the 30-year-old has taken to coaching, being involved with T1 up until July 2023, just a few months before they went on to win Worlds for a historic fourth time.
Two wins –
Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee, Lee “Duke” Ho-seong, Bae “Bang” Jun-sik and Lee “Wolf” Jae-wan, Choi "Zeus" Woo-je, Mun "Oner" Hyeon-jun Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyung, Ryu "Keria" Min-seok
Before 2024, four players had won the World Championship twice, those being BeryL, Duke, Bang, and Wolf. Both Bang and Wolf won the World Championship playing for one of the dominant SK Telecom T1 sides in 2015 and 2016, winning against Koo Tigers and Samsung Galaxy in those respective years. Duke did play alongside the T1 boys, winning with the team in 2016 in Los Angeles, before moving to Invictus before the end of the year. It was with the Chinese organisation that he won his second title as a substitute. He substituted in for Kang “TheShy” Seung-lok, who was suffering from an injury and the Korean became the first player to win Worlds with different teams.
The final two-time champion, BeryL, is the only multi-winner to have not played for T1. The 27-year-old support won his first Worlds in Shanghai in 2020 with DAMWOM Gaming, beating out Suning on their home soil. He picked up his second trophy two years later in 2022, playing for DRX and beating out Faker’s T1 in the final. In 2024, Zeus, Oner, Gumayusi, and Keria joined this group by winning the 2023 and 2024 Worlds back-to-back with T1, along with Faker.
Organisations –
T1 (formerly SK Telecom T1) –
T1 are the most well-known organisation in League of Legends, winning the World Championships a record-breaking five times – all with Faker in the roster. Faker and T1 are synonymous with each other and have been vital parts of a well-oiled winning machine.
Samsung Galaxy –
While not entirely the same name, Samsung Galaxy sponsored two sister teams previously – Samsung White and Samsung Blue. Samsung White won the 2014 World Championship inside the World Cup Stadium in Seoul before KeSPA announced prohibition against one organization holding multiple rosters. This left just Samsung Galaxy who managed to make back-to-back Worlds finals in 2016 and 2017, both against SK Telecom T1, winning the rematch in 2017 in Beijing.
