V3 Esports has lost 39 matches in a row in the LJL. It is the longest losing streak in League of Legends history.
In 2020, V3 Esports won the Summer Playoffs in the League of Legends Japan League (LJL) and qualified for Worlds Play-In, marking themselves as the most powerful team of the region. But a year later, the team got defeated in the Summer Playoffs 0-3 by AXIZ. This series marked the debut of the greatest downfall of any team in the pro circuit so far. V3 Esports has lost 39 matches in a row in the LJL which is the longest losing streak in League of Legends history.
V3 was winless for 341 days
After failing at 4th place in LJL Summer Playoffs 2021, the whole roster got released and the team decided to entirely rebuild. They promoted their academy roster after they had an undefeated run in LJL Academy, reportedly also beating some LCKCL & LDL teams which is a high benchmark for a minor region. However, their ADC star player Rei "Marble" Shimayagot was picked up by the Softbank Hawks.
But without their star man, and his replacement "dresscode" not able to live up to his predecessor expectations, V3 crumbled going winless in Spring. Strong performances from Daito "Washidai" Suzuki, Reo "Yunika" Komoda and Takehiko "Eugeo" Katsuki at various points had given hope, but nothing solid enough to blow up the enemy nexus.
The LJL is composed of eight teams facing each other three tiems in the Regular Season. So they recorded a disastrous 2022 Spring Split with a 0-21 overall performance. The streak continued into the 2022 Summer Split, until day 15 with a 0-15 record. They eventually managed to break the cycle by winning on Day 16 against AXIZ, after being winless for 341 days. They eventually ended the split at 3-18 at the last place but proved themselves as a roster capable of winning games again.
They actually got close to mark the whole Esports History, as the longest losing streak at a professional level occurred in the Overwatch League with the Shanghai Dragons loosing 42 games in a row.
