Vladi is promoted to the LEC. Saken is benched.
Mid-Laner Vladimiros "Vladi" Kourtidis has been promoted to Karmine Corp's main roster in the LoL EMEA Championship (LEC), sources tell Sheep Esports on Tuesday. The future of Lucas "SAKEN" Fayard is currently unknown.
Initially joining the organization in January, this promotion will represent Vladi's first foray outside the regional leagues. Sources further indicate that Vladi was Karmine Corp's first option during this off-season.
Investing in Rookies
After more than three years of competing with Karmine Corp, first in the LFL and later in the LEC, SAKEN will no longer be playing for the Blue Wall. Following back-to-back 10th-place finishes in the LEC, the French organization has decided to make sweeping changes in hopes of finding better results heading into the summer season. At this time, the future of the 25-year-old mid-laner remains unknown.
Through this new move, Karmine Corp is seemingly hoping to gamble on a talented rookie in Greek mid-laner Vladi. Proving himself in the regional leagues and at the EMEA Masters, the 18-year-old player has anchored himself as a strong asset for the organization's academic division, despite having only played one split with them.
At this time, bot laner Caliste "Caliste" Henry-Hennebert still finds himself unable to be promoted due to existing LEC rulings disallowing players under the age of 18 to play within the league. However, it appears that the organization is now laying the groundwork for a strong future roster formed around promising young talent.
