Eintracht Frankfurt picks veteran sololaners
Eintracht Frankfurt (SGE) are nearing the conclusion of their offseason roster building. According to sources from Sheep Esports, the German organization has secured two veteran players for the upcoming Prime League season. Dirk "ZaZee" Mallner will continue as the team’s midlaner for a third consecutive year, reaffirming SGE's trust in him. Meanwhile, the team has acquired Toni “Sacre” Sabalić for the toplane. These two sololaners will join jungler Teodor “Techoteco” Dan Bârliba and AD Carry Maurice “Varry” Herberg, as previously reported by Sheep Esports. The roster remains incomplete, as the team is still searching for a support to round out the lineup.
The past two seasons with SGE have been challenging for ZaZee in terms of results. Since the club’s promotion to the first division in 2023, its best performance was a seventh-place finish in its inaugural split. Earlier in his career, however, ZaZee experienced considerable success, particularly during the 2018-2019 seasons prior to the establishment of the ERL network. During this period, he secured victories at the ESL Meisterschaft Spring 2018 - Division 1 with EURONICS Gaming and the Premier Tour Spring 2019 with BIG, winning two out of four stages.
Intersected paths
ZaZee’s prime years also saw him compete in the only three European Masters editions of his career. Notably, he claimed the Summer 2019 title with BIG. The following year, he ascended to the LEC stage with SK Gaming for the 2020 Summer Split. Since then, ZaZee has returned to the Prime League but has yet to add another trophy to his collection. Although he and Sacre have never played on the same team, their paths have intersected. Sacre had been part of SK Gaming’s LEC roster between Summer 2019 and Spring 2020 but was replaced just as ZaZee joined the team.
The Croatian toplaner began his career with significant success, winning the EBL twice early on. Following his time in Europe’s premier League of Legends competition, he competed across multiple regional leagues, including the TCL, Superliga, and Ultraliga. His return to the German scene in Spring 2022 proved fruitful, as he claimed the Prime League title with GamerLegion. More recently, Sacre came close to another triumph with Schalke 04. In the club’s final split in League of Legends—Schalke 04 ceased operations at the end of the season—Sacre reached the Prime League final but fell short, losing to Unicorns of Love Sexy Edition.
