This will be Myrtus's second year competing in the LFL
After an impressive 2024 season, where they dominated nearly every competition, BDS Academy is taking a new direction by completely overhauling their roster to focus on developing young talent, after four of their former player joined the LEC. Sources have told Sheep Esports the organization has reached a verbal agreement with 19-year-old support player Mohamed "Myrtus" Rahli, who recently completed his rookie year in the LFL with Solary.
A 2nd chance in the LFL
Last year, Myrtus made a remarkable entry into the LFL. Known for his raw talent, he first made waves in LFL Division 2 with Atletec in 2023, finishing second in the Summer Split, just behind Team du Sud, which dominated the whole league that season. With numerous ERL teams interested in him, this promising rookie had the luxury of choosing his destination for 2024, ultimately signing with Solary.
However, this season didn’t go as planned, and his development faced setbacks. He was part of a struggling Solary roster that placed 7th in both Spring and Summer, missing out on the playoffs and the EMEA Masters, each split ending with a disappointing 8-10 record. Nonetheless, he closed the year positively in the Coupe de France, reaching the finals at Paris Games Week, where they ultimately fell to Vitality.Bee in a 3-1 match. Seeking redemption and eager to prove that this challenging season doesn’t reflect his true skill level, Myrtus now has a second chance with an organization renowned for maximizing its players’ potential.
Myrtus is also regarded as a major talent due to his impressive Solo Q track record. At just 15 years old, he reached Challenger rank in 2021 and has since consistently remained at the top of the European ladder. Well-liked by the French community, he has also competed in both editions of the SoloQ Challenge in France, organized by Jean "TraYtoN" Medzadourian, where he finished as the top-ranked support player each time.
A Roster of Rookies
Following last week's report by Sheep Esports on Tautvydas “Toffe” Gegeckas' verbal agreement with BDS Academy, Myrtus becomes the second player confirmed for BDSA's 2025 roster. These signings reflect the club’s strategy to take a more economical approach this year, aiming for a roster primarily made up of rookies or young players with limited experience. Entering the offseason market later than most, BDSA are the last team to begin assembling their lineup for the LFL season. Whether BDSA can remain competitive with a roster of rookie players assembled late in the offseason is uncertain, but the organization has proven adept at nurturing talent. Now, it’s Myrtus' turn to shine.
