Larssen won LEC Summer Split 2022 with Rogue
The years pass, but Emil "Larssen" Larsson remains a constant. According to Sheep Esports sources, the Swedish midlaner will continue to play in the LEC next season, either with Rogue or whichever team acquires the club’s spot among EMEA's League of Legends elite. Rogue have reached a verbal agreement with the midlaner, but — if they successfully sell their LEC slot — this agreement will be transferred to the new team. Rogue are looking to sell their whole organization, not just their LEC slot.
Larssen, who has been with Rogue (which was KOI last year) since 2018, was the first domino to fall in the 2023 offseason. Alongside Rasmus “Caps” Winther, he's now one of the most loyal players to his LEC club — he's played for Rogue his whole career. After winning the Ultraliga in Spring 2019 with Rogue's academy team, he joined the main roster and helped turn Rogue’s story around. The team finished 10th in its debut LEC split but climbed to 4th in the Summer Split following Larssen’s arrival — who was one piece of a roster shake-up with four new players, including Kacper "Inspired" Słoma.
Between 2020 and 2021, with Steven "Hans Sama" Liv as his AD Carry, Larssen came close to securing his first LEC title multiple times. The breakthrough finally came in 2022 — Rogue became the best team in Europe, with Larssen regarded by some as the region's top midlaner. That year, Rogue finished 2nd in the Spring Split and won the Summer Split, propelled by career-best performances from players like Kim "Malrang" Geun-seong and Markos "Comp" Stamkopoulos.
A Decline for Rogue and Larssen
Since their quarterfinal exit at Worlds 2022, results have taken a sharp dive for Larssen and Rogue. In 2023, rebranded as KOI, the team struggled due to individual dips in performance from Comp and Malrang — Larssen maintained a decent level, but the team's performance declined step by step. They finished 3rd in Winter, 6th in Spring, and 8th in Summer.
This year was even worse. Larssen saw his first-ever decline in form on the LEC stage, while Comp failed to return to his peak and new jungler Mark "Markoon" van Woensel struggled severely. Rogue’s downward spiral continued, finishing 9th in the first two splits of the year. After replacing Mathias "Szygenda" Jensen with Finn "Finn" Wiestål in the toplane following the Winter Split, Rogue chose not to make further changes after Spring. Unfortunately, this gamble backfired, leading to a 10th-place finish in the Summer Split. Amidst the departure of several players — Théo "Zoelys" Le Scornec is reportedly joining Team GO in the LFL, as previously reported by Sheep Esports — Larssen has once again secured his spot on the roster for the upcoming season.
