The first domino of this NA offseason has fallen
Midlaner Joseph Joon "jojopyun" Pyun has reached a verbal agreement with Cloud9 in the League of Legends Championship Series, sources tell Sheep Esports.
C9 jojopyun marks the first big move of this LCS offseason and might come as a surprise to many fans. However, jojopyun has been a subject for a while behind the scenes.
Before the start of Worlds last month, Team Vitality and Team Heretics were two LEC teams that expressed interest in the 19-year-old Canadian prodigy. This week, sources became confident that the player would remain in NA as a fight between several LCS organizations started.
FlyQuest, Cloud9, and Golden Guardians were among the three organizations interested in jojopyun recently. Cloud9 was a likely option for the player; however, Golden Guardians was a really attractive destination too. In a turn of events, Golden Guardians had to stop spending and halt offseason operations. The final choice was made between Cloud9 and FlyQuest.
The historic North American organization of Cloud9 had a really good year in the LCS. The organization won both the Spring & Summer regular season. While they earned the Spring Playoffs title, they finished second in the LCS 2023 Championship, falling to NRG with a score of 1-3.
This year, Cloud9 made it to Worlds for the tenth time. They will be looking to repeat this success by acquiring the LCS Champion. The 19-year-old prodigy even earned the MVP Award of the LCS 2023 Summer Split. Cloud9 will be the second LCS organization that jojopyun plays for, following his departure from Evil Geniuses.
Cloud9 has more changes to come this offseason. The support position has already been left by Jesper "Zven" Svenningsen, who announced he is looking for a new team in the AD Carry position.
More details about C9 and jojopyun to follow.
Cloud9 declined to provide a comment when approached by Sheep Esports.
