Rebels Gaming closes a deal with its first starting player following a complete sports restructuration.
Mid-Laner Javier "Javier" Carmona Garcia has reached a verbal agreement to re-join Rebels Gaming and compete in the LVP Superliga 2024 Season Season sources tell Sheep Esports on Wednesday. Having competed with Case Esports for the past year and a half, this move will mark the Spanish player's return to David de Gea's organization.
Major Restructuration
With only a head coach and mid-laner secured, Rebels Gaming is currently hard at work to build its roster for the 2024 summer season. Per sources, due to bad results in recent splits, the organization has significantly reduced its budget heading into the second half of this year. Information made available to Sheep Esports indicates that the team's budget was effectively cut by around 60%, compared to previous splits.
While the team has made proactive moves to find new players to fill its roster, the ongoing downsizing of the organization's League of Legends team has led to challenges in finding suitable players who would accept working with the organization for lower rates than what other teams could offer.
The team's off-season was made especially difficult as it parted ways with its entire spring season roster, as reported on Sheep Esports.
New Pillars for the Rebels
Paired with former analyst Jose "F1RE" Maria Iznardo, Javier will be the second player to join from the now-defunct Case Esports League of Legends team.
Together, the two former members achieved decent results in the 2024 Spring Season of the LVP Superliga, narrowly finishing in 4th place in the league's playoffs phase after a game-five loss against GIANTX PRIDE. Prior to teaming up with F1RE, Javier had also competed with the organization in the 2nd Division of the Spanish ERL, where he won two back-to-back splits and helped qualify Case Esports for the Superliga this year.
Unfortunately, according to sources, the team's other attempted deals have not panned out as expected this off-season. Information shared with Sheep Esports reveals that the team also tried to recruit William "NoName" Jones and Víctor "Oscure" Guzmán Fernández, who ultimately signed with ZETA and Barça eSports, respectively.
This movement will be added to our Transfers Hub shortly after the publication of this article.
