Karmine Corp knew before the offseason that they wanted to keep Cabochard for the LEC
Toplaner Lucas "Cabochard" Simon-Meslet is poised to make a return to the highest tier of European League of Legends competition, the LEC. After spending two and a half years with Karmine Corp in the LFL, he is rejoining the LEC with Karmine Corp, who acquired an LEC spot last October. This information was shared by sources to Sheep Esports.
Cabochard is a familiar face to many long-time LEC fans, as he previously competed in the league for several years. Indeed, Team Vitality acquired Cabochard in 2015 when they purchased the spot from his former team, Gambit Gaming. The French toplaner played an impressive five-year tenure with Team Vitality.
Arguably, Cabochard's peak with Team Vitality was when they secured a spot at Worlds in 2018. During Worlds, Cabochard delivered an impressive performance against strong teams, helping Vitality secure a third-place finish in Group B with a 3-3 record, including a notable victory over Gen.G. Unfortunately, Team Vitality narrowly missed the playoffs stage due to a loss in their final game against Cloud9. In that crucial match, an early W-spell from the enemy Singed cancelled Cabochard's teleport into a potentially game-winning botlane dive.
Following his time in the LEC, Cabochard exclusively played for Karmine Corp in the LFL. Two years ago, he turned down an LEC offer from Fnatic to continue representing the French organization, as previously reported. Therefore, it holds symbolic significance that he can now make his LEC return with the organization he chose at that time. During his time with Karmine Corp in ERLs, Cabochard has lifted a total of three EMEA Masters trophies.
Cabochard has consistently been the top priority for Karmine Corp during this LEC offseason. According to sources from Sheep Esports, neither Cabochard nor Karmine Corp engaged in extensive discussions with other parties, mirroring the situation with Midlaner Lucas "Saken" Fayard and Support Raphaël "Targamas" Crabbé, both of whom are also transitioning to the LEC team.
