The RLCS World Championship will take place from September 12-14, while the Fortnite World Championship will be held on September 6-7
Epic Games has officially announced that the 2025 Fortnite and Rocket League World Championships will take place in France, at the LDLC Arena in Lyon. This is the fifth time the Rocket League World Championship is being held in Europe, but the first time in France. The event is expected to be a major one, as French-speaking clubs and players have dominated the competitive scene in recent years. Team BDS has reached three consecutive finals, winning two titles in 2022 and 2024, while Vitality has also made it to three finals, securing championships in 2019 and 2023.
Relaunch a declining scene
In recent months, bad news has been pouring in for the Rocket League esports scene. Rocket League's esports image has taken a hit from unprofitable clubs—even top-performing ones like G2 Esports and BDS withdrawing from the scene—to internal restructuring at Psyonix, decreasing prize pools, and fewer majors per year. In search of a new power move to breathe life and confidence back into their game, they have chosen France—a country known for its passionate esports culture and home to widely followed teams like Vitality and Karmine Corp.
The event will take place at the LDLC Arena, a 16,000-seat venue in Lyon, from September 12 to 14, 2025. Teams will compete for a prize pool of $1,200,000. Tickets will go on sale starting February 12, 2025. Given the scale of these events and the passionate esports community in France and beyond, tickets are expected to sell out quickly.
The FNCS will be played at the same place
The Fortnite World Championship will also take place at the LDLC Arena in Lyon set to host the event on September 6-7, 2025. Following previous editions in Denmark and Texas (USA), where players competed in duos, this year’s tournament will shift to a trio format. A total of 33 teams from Europe, North America, Brazil, Asia, Oceania, and the Middle East will compete for a share of the $2,000,000 prize pool, the same amount as last year. For those interested in attending, tickets will go on sale on February 13 and 14 through Fortnite’s official esports social media channels.
