Breathe, Tian, Xiaohu, Light and Hang will play for WBG in 2025
Weibo Gaming have completed their roster for next season with two changes. Following the departures of Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong to Anyone's Legend and Liu “Crisp” Qing-Song to Top Esports, Weibo had to recruit a new jungle/support duo. To this end, the team welcomes one of the league's historic junglers: Gao “Tian” Tian-Liang.
Tian is coming off a good season with Top Esports, with whom he finished 2nd and 3rd in the LPL Spring and Summer Split. What's more, even if TES's results haven't been glorious, he still played in the three international events of the year, the MSI, the Esports World Cup and the Worlds. While the community often labels Tian a “choker”, the 2019 World Champion had an excellent 2024 season in terms of individual performance. His pairing with Tian “Meiko” Ye has been a major reason for TES's strong performances. This is an excellent move for WBG, who replace one of their top performers of the year with a player of more than proven ability.
An excellent Swiss Stage
To accompany Tian in the midgame, Weibo opt for Fu “Hang” Ming-Hang. The Chinese support player comes straight from LNG, with whom he had an average season until the end of the Summer Split. However, once the Summer Split was over (in 4th place), LNG took a real step up and qualified for the Worlds by beating Weibo 3-0 at the Regional Finals. Once at the Worlds, the team continued its good momentum by being the first team to qualify for the Knockout Stage after finishing 3-0 in the Swiss Stage. While many have talked about Lee "Scout" Ye-chan performance, the botlane, and Hang in particular, has also been one of the key factors in LNG's success. He topped the Sheep Stats rankings before the playoffs and was still in the top 5 at the end of the Worlds. Once again, an excellent recruit for WBG to maintain the momentum of recent years.
The rest stays put
The two newcomers will be able to count on the former WBG members, as the other three players of the roster remain unchanged. On the toplane, Chen “Breathe” Chen keeps his place after a rather convincing 2024 since his arrival at Weibo in the Summer. He is one of the team players who performed well at Worlds despite a very stacked pool of players in the toplane.
The same goes for Wang “Light” Guang-Yu, who has established himself as one of the best ADCs in the world despite the presence of such highly reputed names as Lee "Gumayusi" Min-hyeong, Chen "GALA" Wei, Zhao "Elk" Jia-Hao, Park "Viper" Do-hyeon and others. He renews his contract for a third consecutive year with Weibo, with whom he has nearly reached the top, competing in the Worlds final in 2023.
Finally, the team also retains midlaner Li “Xiaohu” Yuan-Hao. Like Light, he arrived in 2023 and represents one of the cornerstones of this team after having been one of RNG's iconic players for over 8 years. The three-time MSI champion (2018, 2021 and 2022) is still hoping to win the only title missing in his trophy cabinet: the Worlds. In any case, his team looks solid on paper and he can pin his hopes on it to do at least as well as last year (5th-6th at Spring and 2nd at Summer). However, next year's opponents will be numerous, given the several super teams that have been formed in the LPL for 2025, such as Invictus Gaming, Top Esports, Bilibili Gaming and JD Gaming.
