Zeka pulled off the second pentakill of his career, this time on Azir
It was a quick morning in the LCK, as Gen.G cruised past OKSavingsbank BRION in a series where Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon stood out, earning MVP honors and pushing his team to the top of the standings with a 6-0 record. Hanwha Life Esports continue to keep the pressure on Gen.G, taking down Nongshim RedForce in under an hour. Choi "Zeus" Woo-je was named MVP of the series, thanks in part to a dominant Jax performance.
Will they lose?
Gen.G are on an impressive win streak—six wins in six matches—having already faced every top team in the league: HLE, T1, Dplus KIA, NS. No one has been able to withstand Gen.G’s firepower, as they seem to have fully hit their stride. In Game 1, BRION never held a gold lead. Gen.G dominated from start to finish without a single death on their carries. Chovy topped the damage charts on Ahri, while Park "Ruler" Jae-hyuk finished with an 11/0/7 scoreline on Jhin, participating in 18 of his team’s 20 kills.
Game 2 followed a nearly identical script. Chovy once again broke the 30,000 damage mark—this time on Viktor—and ended the game with a flawless 6/0/12. He didn’t die a single time across the entire series. Right now, Gen.G are playing at a level that’s hard to match in the LCK—or anywhere else. They might just be the best team in the world.
Right behind the leader
It took just 52 minutes for HLE to take down NS, who, despite the loss, haven’t had a bad season overall. Game 1 saw the First Stand champions take the lead early on, with Kim "Zeka" Geon-woo dominating in lane against newcomer Syun "Calix" Hyun-bin, NS’s young midlaner. Zeka even secured a pentakill to close out the game, though it was Zeus’s Rumble that dealt the most damage.
Game 2 was much bloodier, with over 40 kills—three-quarters of them going HLE’s way. Park "Viper" Do-hyeon delivered a flawless performance, Han "Peanut" Wang-ho remained as impactful as ever on tanks, and Zeus’s Jax—now firmly in the conversation as one of the best Grandmaster at Arms players in the world—sealed the deal.
Tomorrow, to close out the 3rd week of LCK Round 1-2, DK will face DRX in a BO3 that heavily favors DK. Later, KT Rolster will take on DN Freecs in a matchup from the bottom of the standings, with Freecs hoping to finally secure their first win of the split against a KT team that's been almost unrecognizable.
