This Friday saw one of the most significant announcements of the offseason: Los Ratones, the new team founded by streamer and former professional player Marc “Caedrel” Lamont, revealed their inaugural roster. With Simon “Thebausffs” Hofverberg in the toplane, Veljko “Velja” Camdzic in the jungle, Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek in the midlane, Juš “Crownie” Marušič as the AD Carry, and Martin “Rekkles” Larsson as the support, the team is comprised of well-known League of Legends players — with the exception of Velja, an Serbian jungler who has competed semi-professionally in Europe for years.

Caedrel will serve as the Head Coach of this roster, which is sure to generate immense excitement. Scrims, feedback sessions, and reviews will be public as much as possible, explained Caedrel on stream just after the announcement.

Although he has never played competitively at a high level, Thebausffs, a notorious Sion one-trick, is an infamous European SoloQ terror. Nemesis was one of the best midlaners in the LEC during his time with Fnatic between 2019 and 2020. At that time, he was perhaps the only player who could rival Rasmus “Caps” Winther, the greatest player in LEC history, whom he replaced under the Black and Orange banner. Since the end of the 2020 season, Nemesis has been absent from the competitive scene, focusing instead on streaming and content creation for Gen.G, the kings of the LCK. His return was highly anticipated.

Like his two sololaners, Crownie did not compete in 2024, instead choosing to focus on streaming. However, the Slovenian player was active the previous year, having qualified for the 2023 Worlds with BDS. Crownie enjoyed one of the best seasons of his career last season — the Swiss organization reached the LEC final in Spring, outrageously dominating the split. Crownie failed to win his first title at the top of the EMEA when his team got reverse swept by MAD Lions. In fact, the ADC won his last three titles with the Lions of Madrid in 2018: Alongside Nemesis, a returning teammate, he won both Superliga splits and the summer European Masters.

Rekkles, the Centerpiece

The centerpiece of this roster, is undeniably Rekkles — his return to Europe has excited fans around the world. The former European star, who also once played with Nemesis (at Fnatic in 2019 and 2020), spent a year in the LCK CL with the T1 Academy. Rekkles made his debut as a support player after building his legend as an AD Carry. The Swedish player returned to Europe to accompany the main team at Worlds 2024 as a substitute, giving him front-row seats to witness Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok and T1’s fifth Worlds victory.

On Wednesday, Rekkles announced his decision to leave the T1 academy and return home, seizing an opportunity to play from Sweden. Rumors of him joining Caedrel’s project quickly spread and were confirmed this Friday. The two men are close friends: After several months away from social media, Rekkles gave an interview on Caedrel’s stream to discuss his recent years and his beginnings in the LCK CL. With Nemesis and Rekkles in particular, Los Ratones have two players the public has high expectations for. It now remains to be seen which league the team will compete in.
