Mel lost her first two official competitive games, but won the next four
Introduced to the Summoner’s Rift on January 23, Mel made her competitive debut this weekend. On Saturday, CTBC Flying Oyster midlaner Tsai “HongQ” Ming-Hong was the first to lock the champion, playing the emblematic Arcane character against Team Secret Whales at the LCP Kickoff. The following day, in the same league, Chiefs Esports Club AD Carry Samil “Leemas” Ki also picked Mel in a match against Fukuoka SoftBank HAWKS Gaming. However, the Ambessa daughter’s first two professional appearances both ended in defeat.
Shortly after, however, Mel secured her first official competitive victory. In the final LCP match of the week, TALON midlaner Chu “FoFo” Chun-Lan delivered a standout performance against GAM Esports, securing 12 of his team’s 14 kills (86%) and finishing with a flawless KDA of 12/0/1. As a reminder, Mel excels at securing kills, especially in teamfights, largely due to her passive ability, which executes targets on impact.
66% of win rate
Later on Sunday, Mel was played three more times in the LTA South, each time contributing to a victory. Daniel Xavier “Grevthar” Ferreira debuted the champion in the region during the RED Canids’ match against LOUD, finishing with a KDA of 8/2/4 — LOUD eventually won the BO 2-1. Matheus “dyNquedo” Rossini Miranda then used Mel to help paIN Gaming defeat FURIA, ending with a 6/0/4 KDA. The day concluded with a BO1 between LOUD and paIN, which determined the teams’ seeding for the Cross Conference against LTA North teams.
Having faced Mel earlier in the evening during LOUD's match against RED Canids, Thiago “tinowns” Sartori picked her for LOUD in this decisive match, securing another victory and finishing with a KDA of 5/1/9. So far, Mel has appeared in six professional games, holding a 66% win rate (four wins, two losses) and a cumulative KDA of 38/7/20 (8.3).
