The top 8 will qualify for the playoffs
Remaining unbeaten during the second week of the LEC Winter Split regular season, Fnatic, Karmine Corp, and Movistar KOI have already secured their spots in the playoffs. These three teams dominate the standings with a 5-1 record, while Rogue sits in ninth place with just one win and five losses. Regardless of the outcomes in the final week of the regular season, Emil “Larssen” Larsson’s squad is mathematically incapable of catching the top three. Rightfully earning spots in our Team of the Week, Fnatic, Karmine Corp, and Movistar KOI are therefore guaranteed a spot in the top eight, ensuring their progression to the next stage.
Sitting just behind the leading trio, GIANTX holds a 4-2 record and is all but assured of qualification — since the introduction of this format in 2023, no team with four wins in the first phase has ever failed to make the playoffs. Meanwhile, G2 Esports and Vitality, both at 3-3, are in favorable positions but still need to solidify their standings in the final week. At the bottom of the pack, Team BDS and Heretics, with 2-4 records, remain at risk of elimination going into their last three matches.
Do-or-die
SK Gaming, winless at 0-6, faces an uphill battle, requiring at least two victories combined with favorable results from other teams to keep their playoff hopes alive. The German team’s fate will largely hinge on two critical matches against BDS and Rogue, followed by an unbalanced final clash against Fnatic. However, the first-placed team in the regular season of Summer 2024 is still in with a chance, as MAD Lions KOI had qualified for the playoffs of this split with just two wins in the first phase.
In the event of a tie after the nine regular-season games, tiebreakers will be played to determine the final standings. The playoff bracket will then be seeded based on the regular-season rankings: the top seed will face the eighth seed, the second will play the seventh, and so on. The playoffs will follow a double-elimination bracket in a Fearless Draft format, with the first two rounds played as BO3 series and the later stages contested as BO5s.
