After five years competing in the LPL, FoFo returns home to join PSG Talon in the newly established LCP league
PSG Talon have officially announced their new midlaner, Chu "FoFo" Chun-Lan, on their social media. At 25 years old, with an impressive career under his belt, FoFo takes on the challenge of replacing Huang "Maple" Yi-Tang, the legendary midlaner who led the team through two glorious years before retiring.
Over his nine-year career, FoFo first made a name for himself in his local league, the LMS. He debuted in the league with a split at the legendary Taipei Assassins during Spring 2016, before joining J Team the following split, where he played until the end of 2019. Dominating the top of the standings during these three years, his journey with J Team concluded in the best way possible—winning his first LMS title in Summer 2019. This victory secured him and his team a spot at Worlds that same year, the only World Championship appearance of his career so far. At Worlds, FoFo’s team failed to make it out of the Group stage, finishing 3-3 behind Splyce and the eventual champions, FunPlus Phoenix, though they managed to take a game off both teams.
An unsuccessful stint in the LPL
His LMS championship win earned him a spot in the LPL in 2020 with BiliBili Gaming. However, his first year in the fiercely competitive league was challenging, as his team failed to make the playoffs. Over the next few years, FoFo continued to compete in the LPL without achieving notable top-tier finishes. The LPL, known as one of the toughest leagues in the world, saw FoFo move to Rare Atom in 2021, then back to BiliBili Gaming in 2022 with a promising roster that only managed a 7th place finish in Spring. In 2023, he joined EDward Gaming, where he experienced his best year in the league. Alongside players like Zhao "JieJie" Li-Jie and Tian "Meiko" Ye, EDG achieved a 3rd place finish in Spring, falling just one game short of reaching the grand finals. While the team dreamed of a Worlds appearance, their performance faltered in Summer and ended in disappointment with a loss to Weibo Gaming in the Regional Finals, despite being favorites.
In 2024, FoFo moved to Team WE, finishing 7th in both splits and once again missing out on the race to Worlds. Following another mid-table year, he decided to return to his roots by joining the newly formed LCP league. Amusingly, he reunites there with Hung "Karsa" Hao-Hsuan, a fellow competitor from the 2023 Asian Games, where their team fell in the finals to South Korea’s squad, led by legends Lee "Faker" Sang-hyeok and Jeong "Chovy" Ji-hoon.
PSG gaining more experience
FoFo joins PSG Talon, alongside Karsa in a rebuilding period, following the departure of their stars Maple and jungler Yu "JunJia" Chun-Chia. The arrival of a veteran like FoFo is expected to fill this gap perfectly, offering the team the stability and experience needed to maintain their dominance. Despite entering a new league, the LCP, with several new challengers to overcome, PSG Talon retains the status of the strongest team to beat. The organization has been a dominant force in the PCS, winning seven of the nine splits they participated in since joining in Summer 2020 and securing four appearances at Worlds.
Currently, only Lu "Betty" Yu-Hung and Huang "Azhi" Shang-Jhih remain under contract until the end of 2025 and are expected to stay on the roster unless further changes are announced.
