AL qualified for playoffs for the first time in their history in Summer 2024
This Thursday, Anyone's Legend unveiled three members of their roster for the 2025 LPL season. The announcement began with the contract renewal of midlaner Cui “Shanks” Xiaojun, whose previous deal had expired on November 19, 2024. The team then revealed the acquisition of two new players: toplaner Li “Flandre” Xuanjun and jungler Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong. With these additions, AL’s roster may now be finalized, as AD Carry Wang “Hope” Jie and support Kim “Kael” Jin-hong remain under contract until next November.
A King Without A Crown
A mainstay in the LPL since 2022, Anyone's Legend spent over two seasons languishing at the bottom of the standings. However, Summer 2024 marked a breakthrough, as the team qualified for playoffs for the first time in its history, securing a fifth-place finish. The addition of Flandre and Tarzan could elevate the organization further. A world champion in 2021 and LPL Summer Split winner with EDward Gaming, Flandre spent last year sharing the toplane position at JD Gaming with Xu “Sheer” Wenjie.
It was Flandre who competed during the Summer Split playoffs, which reflected JDG’s downturn after an extraordinary 2023 season. That year, JDG had claimed two LPL titles and an MSI trophy but fell to a seventh-place finish in Summer 2024. Meanwhile, Tarzan arrives with an equally compelling narrative, despite never having secured a major title. Widely regarded as one of the world’s top junglers in recent years, he was instrumental in transforming Weibo Gaming's face during the Summer Split.
Flandre-Ale Exchange
After a brief adjustment period, Tarzan thrived in the AP meta, dominating in particular with his signature champion, Nidalee. His performances carried WBG to the LPL final, highlighted by a stellar showing in the lower bracket final against Top Esports. Yet, as with LNG the year prior, Tarzan fell short in the finals, leaving the “King of the Jungle” still chasing his elusive first crown.
Nevertheless, the pairing of Flandre and Tarzan represents a significant catch for Anyone’s Legend. They replace Hu “Ale” Jiale and Kim “Croco” Dong-beom. Interestingly, Ale has already moved in the opposite direction, having joined JD Gaming just days ago.
