FearX keep their topside for the upcoming LCK season
FearX (FOX) concluded the 2024 LCK season without much fanfare. The team placed 7th in the Spring Split, improved to 6th in the Summer Split, but was eliminated in the first round of the Regional Finals by KT Rolster. Despite these modest results, the organization has chosen to retain two players for the upcoming season: toplaner Song “Clear” Hyeon-min and jungler Jeon “Raptor” Eo-jin. Both players advanced through the LCK AS and LCK CL systems and had brief stints in the LCK. Clear played a single game in the 2022 Spring Split with DRX, while Raptor appeared in three matches with OK BRION during the 2022 Summer Split.
Back in South Korea's League of Legends elite in Summer 2023, Clear spent a split as a substitute, this time with SANDBOX Gaming...the former name of FearX. Remaining with FOX in 2024 after the rebrand, he played his first two splits as a starter that season. Raptor joined FearX’s academy team in Spring 2024 before being promoted to the main roster for the Summer Split.
Two experienced players
To complement them, FearX are promoting another academy player, AD Carry Nam “Diable” Dae-geun, who has been with the organization since 2022. Diable will make his LCK debut after two underwhelming years in the LCK CL, where he never placed higher than 5th in four splits and even finished 9th in the Summer of 2023.
Joining the roster are two more experienced players: midlaner Lee “VicLa” Dae-kwang and support Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu. VicLa has prior LCK experience and was named Rookie of the Year in 2022 with KT Rolster. He later explored other major leagues, playing in the LCS with FlyQuest in 2023 and the LPL with Rare Atom in 2024, though he has yet to secure his first title. Kellin, an LCK veteran since 2019, also remains in search of his first trophy.
He came very close to adding the first line to his list of achievements when he reached the final of Spring Split 2020, with Gen.G. Last season, he played for Dplus KIA, consistently finishing behind the league’s top teams: Gen.G, Hanwha Life Esports, and T1. Dplus KIA ended both splits in 4th place, with T1—the five-time world champions—cutting Kellin’s playoff runs short in both Spring and Summer.
