G2, SK and BDS win their two games of the week
Two blocks stand out at the end of the third week of the summer split of the LEC, the League of Legends EMEA Championship. While the battle rages on at the bottom of the standings, G2 Esports, SK Gaming, and Team BDS won their two games of the week and, along with Fnatic, qualified for the playoffs. These three teams are in the spotlight in our Team of the Week.
Toplaner: Adam
Adam "Adam" Maanane largely dominated his two opponents this week. The toplaner even took the solo first blood over Finn "Finn" Wiestål in the BDS game against Rogue. With his Renekton, Adam absorbed the pressure on several occasions in the sidelane without shaking, before becoming unmanageable in teamfights. Against GIANTX, the Frenchman had a great time at the start of the game, racking up the kills, and then working his magic on the map, playing his frontline role to perfection with K'Sante. In the last BDS fight, for example, he single-handedly took care of two of his opponents' carries, giving the rest of his team a clear path to clean up their enemies.
Jungler: Yike
Martin "Yike" Sundelin quickly killed off the suspense in the match between G2 Esports and Karmine Corp. The young jungler took to the topside to play the 2v2 with his Xin Zhao and came away with two eliminations that put him well ahead. The Swede was so far ahead that he took the liberty of recovering both the Void Grubs and the first dragon, a rare occurrence in today's League of Legends. After that, Yike maneuvered his teamfights to perfection in a game that had already been won a long time ago. The following day, despite a big miss at the start of the game under the T1 bot, the jungler played an important role in the Samurai's victory over rivals Fnatic. In particular, he made several smart plays on the midlane to bury Marek "Humanoid" Brázda's game.
Midlaner: Nisqy
This is Yasin "Nisqy" Dinçer's second appearance in our Team of the Week for this Summer Split. Against Heretics, the SK Gaming midlaner found a masterful ultimate with his Azir in front of Nashor to give his team a free teamfight. Harassed by a very good Bartłomiej "Fresskowy" Przewoźnik the following day against MAD Lions KOI, Nisqy never cracked and proved important in decisive moments. Above all, he played second fiddle to his AD Carry Cho "Rahel" Min-seong.
AD Carry: Rahel (MVP)
Excellent since his arrival at SK Gaming, Rahel could already have claimed a place in our Team of the Week in previous weeks. This time, the South Korean was so good that Sheep Esports also awarded him the title of MVP of the Week. The AD Carry came up trumps with his Zeri to recover two early eliminations against Heretics, but his best performance came against MAD Lions KOI. Rahel literally made David "Supa" Garcia dance in a 1v1 that should have gone in the Spaniard's favor given his lead at the time. He then piloted his Kai'Sa with a controlled aggression that made his opponents' heads spin, particularly during his forays into the middle of the MDK base.
Support: Mikyx
Like the rest of his team, Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle put in a stellar performance against Karmine Corp on Saturday. Along with Poppy, the Samurai support allowed Steven "Hans Sama" Liv to pick up several kills in the 2v2 bot. He then found some good engages in the grouped phases, which were rarely rewarded. Against Fnatic, Mikyx started with a big miss on an ill-advised dive under the T1 bot, before perfectly managing a similar attempt by the Orange et Noir a few minutes later. His ultimates repeatedly nullified Fnatic's onslaughts, allowing his AD Carry to shine with Ashe.
