HLE upsets Gen.G in the grand final and deny them from the Golden Road scenario
The League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) 2024 Summer Playoffs are in full swing and will crown the new champion of Korea on September 8th. After a regular split that closely mirrored the Spring results, only the six best teams remain in contention for the title of Korean champion. This split, Gen.G, T1, Hanwha Life Esports, Dplus KIA, KT Rolster and BNK FearX qualified to playoffs. The first two seeds instantly qualified to round 2 while the four remaining have to go through round 1 with the losers being eliminated. 3rd seed selects between 5th and 6th seed to play against while the 4th faces the one who wasn't picked. All matches are BO5 and the stakes are maximal as the winner will directly qualify to Worlds 2024.
HLE breaks the Golden road and crowned champion
Despite being sent to the loser bracket by Gen.G themselves, HLE eliminated T1 from the loser's final and got their revenge in the grand final, defeating Gen.G 3-2 and denying them from the Golden Road scenario. Both teams have clearly been the two strongest 5-man roster in the Summer split and delivered a very spectacular final at the highest level of League of Legends in the region.
HLE will then head to Worlds 2024 as #1 seed while Gen.G will be #2. T1 will then have to fight against Dplus KIA in the regional finals to qualify to Worlds, while the loser of this match will get another shot to go as #4 seed by battling against the winner of KT Rolster versus FearX.
