Two players were put into intensive care; Two others got away with light injuries.
In a tragic turn of events, four members of the Elite Series: League of Legends (ESLOL) participants, A One Man Army, were involved in a serious car accident on the E34 near Wechelderzande, Belgium. According to mainstream media outlet nieuwsblad.be, all four of the young members were rescued by emergency services at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.
At this time, sources indicate that one of the team's starting players still remains in a coma with serious injuries, though discussions with affected parties indicate that he should make a recovery. One other player was also hospitalized with severe injuries, while the remaining two members sustained smaller injuries.
When talking with members close to the team about the incident, Sheep Esports was reassured that AOMA's first priority is the well-being of its players. According to sources, the organization's current CEO, Gil "Baelakor" Lieveld, has been present by the side of his players since the accident and has taken all necessary precautions to help them in their recoveries.
Still, the question of A One Man Army's participation in the ESLOL Summer Season remains. When inquiring about the impact of the incident on the team, members close to AOMA responded that they were currently in talks with Unlocked and Riot Games and were considering the need to sign new members to its roster, if approved. Upon discussing the possibility of rescheduling matches, Sheep Esports received the following comment: "A rescheduling would not be sufficient; the players' recovery will take much longer than that."
A Terrible Accident
Taking place on Saturday morning, sources indicate that the team members were on their way to the official Elite Series media day before the accident. While details on the situation remain foggy, reports indicate that the car deviated from its course and found itself on a trajectory that the bus could no longer avoid, with the bus eventually colliding face-first into the left side of the car. Further reports indicate that the bus driver himself was left unharmed and that no other people were hurt.
Following the incident, some of the players remained trapped and had to be freed by firefighters. To respect the privacy of affected members and their families, a decision was made not to divulge the identity of the affected team members. As the situation currently unfolds, Sheep Esports asks any readers to remain supportive of the team and its players, while also refraining from speculation and prying into the personal lives of the victims and their families.
While reaching out for comments, A One Man Army responded that it would issue a statement by tomorrow morning.
