Movistar KOI has still not managed to secure a win this year in the VCT
Movistar KOI is set to bench their head coach Harry "Gorilla" Mepham and assistant coach Laike "Temoc" Lewis due to the team's performance in the VCT. However, they will still be in charge for next Thursday's match against Gentle Mates, which will mark their final appearance with KOI according to sources close to Sheep Esports.
The decision by Movistar KOI is purely performance-related and aims to bring about changes given the team's performance. To remind, the team is currently eliminated from Stage 1, sitting at the bottom of Group Omega after losing all four of their matches against Team Liquid, BBL Esports, FUT Esports and Karmine Corp. The team lost every map during this split, meaning they were defeated 2-0 in each of their games. The coaches will play their final match against Gentle Mates next Thursday, but the result will not affect their standings.
Even at the VCT 2025: EMEA Kickoff, the team had a rough start, losing consecutively to Team Liquid and M8, and Stage 1 did not fare any better. The overall results have prompted the decision to bench head coach Gorilla and assistant coach Temoc, with the coaching staff remaining in charge for the final match.
