EEC Champion Zeniv joins G2H as the team's new toplaner
Riding high on the triumph of her first title in the League of Legends Women and Non-Binary scene, Zeniv is poised to join forces with G2 Hel as the team's new toplaner for 2025. Fresh off the back of her most successful competitive year yet, the German player now joins one of the most storied organizations in the ecosystem, determined to extend her reign of dominance into the new year. The team explored numerous options, including former GameWard player Telch, Solary's Yukiko, former BDS Valkyries Sea, and even Team GO Aurora's ex-jungler Trez, who came close to joining despite the need for a potential role swap.
The Last Piece Towards G2's Supremacy?
Despite being one of the most sought-after teams in the scene, G2 Hel faced a challenging off-season this year. While the team claimed victories in the Coupe des Étoiles, the Storm Takeover, and secured a runner-up finish in the Equal Esports Cup—only losing to Zeniv's former squad in the finals—the organization was left scrambling for a toplaner after a series of unfortunate events. Having initially hoped to secure Madison "CrowMac" Coutelet and Alice "Wiosna" Mossé earlier in the off-season, G2 was unable to land either of its top choices, leaving the team in a precarious position. Matters worsened when their former toplaner, Olivia "Lizia" Calistus, departed to join SK Avarosa, forcing G2 to hold extended trials and consider options beyond their initial plans.
With this move, the team is now guaranteed not to meet residency requirements to compete in the Coupe des Étoiles next year, assuming the rules remain unchanged, as they will no longer field two French players in their starting roster. Still, the exact shape of the scene in 2025 remains uncertain, as rumors of potential new competitive avenues continue to swirl, albeit still in the very early stages of development.
Locking in Zeniv, however, was no simple feat. The team has been trialing various candidates over the past few weeks. Among the most intriguing was Georgia "Trez" Wheeler, who had been openly playing toplane on her secondary account for the past two weeks, reaching a peak of Master 29LP. Another strong contender was Nova "Sea" Jenčáková, the former BDS Valkyries toplaner and this year’s Coupe des Étoiles runner-up.
Though G2 is expected to retain its former jungler, bot laner, and support next year, sources indicate that some members of the squad are still in contractual negotiations and, as a result, are not fully locked in, despite being almost certain to remain with the team.
Meet Zeniv, G2’s New Queen of the Top Lane
Best known for her... unconventional keybinds, Zeniv is set to make a splash as she joins G2 Hel, bringing her signature creative and commanding playstyle, which centers primarily around carry and ranged top laners. A former bot laner, the German player steadily rose through the ranks in 2023 after joining NNOwO, where she competed for the past year and a half. While she may have fell short of qualifying for last year’s EEC playoffs, Zeniv and her now-former team returned with confidence this year, dominating the competition.
A new challenge now awaits Zeniv as she leaves the comfort of her former all-German squad and sets sail toward even greater ambitions. While many of her former teammates are still searching for new homes, Zeniv can at least be assured of facing off against Mia "Miella" Steger, who also trialed for G2 Hel but will be joining a different team next year.
As one of her most notable feats, Zeniv is still known for her exceptional talent on Vayne, having reached rank 100 Challenger in 2021 while one-tricking the champion during her AD Carry days. In addition to Vayne, Zeniv also solidified her reputation on Irelia, among other carry toplaners, using her team's counter-picks to near perfection and consistently gaining laning leads in nearly every game she played throughout the season.
