Toplaner Matti "WhiteKnight" Sormunen, jungler Francisco "Thayger" Mazo, and botlaner Sergio "Legolas" Vicente Gispert have reached agreements to re-sign with Barça eSports in the LVP Superliga, according to Sheep Esports sources. BAR, the esports arm of famed football club FC Barcelona, saw a rollercoaster year in the Spanish ERL — from 9th place in Spring, with Milo "Pridestalkr" Wehnes and Morgan "Hustlin" Granberg, to 1st place in the Summer regular season off the additions of Thayger and support Víctor "Oscure" Guzmán Fernández.

With these players, Barça has locked down three top-level resident players for their Superliga roster, allowing them key flexibility in ERL roster-building. With the success they saw in Summer, the team is hoping to capitalize and aim for the trophy — and, looking further, for the top-echelon of EMEA Masters.

Between 2020 and 2022, WhiteKnight played for Astralis in the LEC — but after a series of disappointing results, he made his LVP debut with KOI. After five splits in the league, it was with BAR this summer that WhiteKnight made his first return to the EMEA Masters stage since his LEC debut in 2020. Though the team went winless in the playoffs stage, managing to make it out of the Swiss stage after placing 9th domestically that same year is no small feat.

Thayger and Legolas, on the other hand, began competing in the LVP Division 2 circuit at the start of 2022. After promoting into the Superliga with Guasones and a top-two finish with BISONS ECLUB, Legolas moved to Barça. Thayger won the Iberian Cup with UCAM in 2022, then made his Superliga debut this spring with Guasones, placing second in the regular season and playoffs — in his ERL "rookie" year, he qualified for EMEA Masters from the Superliga on two different teams.
