2024 was PROFEK's year until it wasn't
Dawid “PROFEK” Święć is entering the VALORANT Champions Tour. According to Sheep Esports sources, the Polish Controller has reached a verbal agreement with BBL Esports for the 2025 VCT EMEA season. PROFEK has spent the last year and a half competing in VCL East under the banner of GoNext Esports.
PROFEK and GoNext Esports were on track to sweep through 2024 after 1st place domestic finishes in both splits, earning themselves a shot at promotion into VCT EMEA through the Ascension tournament. The odds continued to be in their favor as they started strong with two wins in the Group Stage, including a 2-1 victory over eventual Ascension champions Apeks. However, two consecutive losses to CGN Esports and DSYRE brought them to a 2-2 record and ended their promotion run.
(UN)LUCKY NUMBER 7
Since 2022, BBL Esports have only known 7th place. In 2022, they finished 2-3 in groups of both VCT EMEA Challengers Stage 1 and 2, resulting in 7-8th place finishes. In the Last Chance Qualifier, they went 0-4 for another 7-8th placement and therefore missed out on Champions qualification. Come 2023, they fell just short of VCT playoffs with a 3-6 match record and 7th in the regular season. 2024 looked to be no different with 3-3 record in Stage 1 and a 4-6 record in Stage 2 would leave BBL right outside playoffs, again. After two years of almost, the organization looks to break the curse, beginning with PROFEK.
