After spending nearly his entire career in the VCL DACH, bucher is heading to Spain
He stepped in to support UCAM Esports in their pursuit of a spot at the Red Bull Home Ground. And while the club will not be joining teams like T1, Fnatic, or Karmine Corp in the tournament, Maximilian “bucher” Bucher will be continuing his journey with the Spanish organization. According to Sheep Esports sources, the German player has reached a verbal agreement with UCAM to compete in VCL Spain next season.
Primarily a Controller and Sentinel player, bucher first appeared on the European VALORANT circuit in early 2022 with FOKUS, where he won Split 1 of the VCL DACH, earning a promotion to the VCT EMEA. However, his sole appearance in the top regional league was short-lived, with FOKUS finishing at the bottom of their group with one win and four losses.
One win away from the title
Bucher returned to VCL DACH for the 2023 season, joining ALTERNATE aTTaX, where he stayed mid-table, finishing 5th in Split 1 and 4th in Split 2. Another opportunity for promotion to VCT EMEA came during a brief stint with Enterprise Esports in the Ascension play-in, after which he joined Eintracht Frankfurt, also in VCL DACH, at the start of 2024. He eventually returned to FOKUS for Split 2.
This move marks a major shift for Bucher. After spending nearly his entire career in Germany, he is finally heading to Spain. UCAM are coming off a strong season: they placed fourth in Split 1 of VCL Spain and were one win away from claiming Split 2. Leading the standings at the regular season’s end, UCAM reached the playoff final, narrowly losing 2-3 to Barça eSports.
