Sotsy and Tsiperakos previously played together last summer in the LVP with LUA Gaming
According to sources from Sheep Esports, three new players are set to join WLGaming for the upcoming GLL season: toplaner John “Sotsy” Sicre, midlaner Vassilis “Tsiperakos” Lalas, and support Simao “Gordinho” Valente. The two solo laners previously played together last summer in the LVP with LUA Gaming. There, they experienced a challenging split during the team's debut in Spain's top division, ultimately finishing eighth. Sotsy was already part of LUA in Spring 2024, contributing to the organization’s title in the second division. This triumph secured their promotion after Case Esports withdrew from the league.
Sotsy and Tsiperakos concluded the season on a better note by reaching the semi-finals of the Iberian Cup. While the French toplaner is about to explore a new ERL, the Greek midlaner is already familiar with his national league, having played there intermittently between 2020 and 2022 before moving to Spain. Gordinho, too, has experience in the Greek league — the Portuguese support competed in Summer 2024 with Team Refuse. Finishing third in the league, he earned a spot in the first EMEA Masters of his young career. However, Gordinho's journey was cut short as Team Refuse were eliminated in the second round of Group A during the Last Chance Qualifier.
This trio will join two WLGaming players: jungler Vasilis “Carnage” Syrianos and AD Carry Rafa “Rafitta” Ayllón. Carnage joined WLG in May to compete in the GLL Summer Split and two seasons of the European Pro League. Present in the Greek league since 2021, his best result came in the 2023 Summer Split with Team Phantasma, where he secured a fourth-place finish. After a brief stint in Prime League 2 during Spring 2024, Carnage has yet to participate in the EMEA Masters.
A challenging season
Rafitta, on the other hand, is a recognized figure on the European scene. A Superliga champion in Spring 2020 and a semi-finalist in the subsequent European Masters with UCAM, his 2024 season was marked by struggles upon his return to the club. UCAM placed 9th in the LVP Spring Split and 8th in the Summer Split. For the first time in his career, Rafitta had to compete in a promotion/relegation tournament, where UCAM managed to retain their spot. After being eliminated in the Iberian Cup quarter-finals, the Spanish ADC joined WLove Gaming in early October to participate in the qualification stages for the Sigma Cup.
WLove Gaming finished third in the GLL Pro-Am before being eliminated in the Sigma Cup Gauntlet, failing to qualify for the Main Event, which featured representatives from the Hipoint Masters and the Esports Balkan League. This tournament marked the end of a challenging season for the team, which spent the year mid-table in the GLL, finishing fifth in both splits. Their performance in the European Pro League was similarly underwhelming, with an eighth — and last — place finish in Season 2 and a sixth-place finish in Season 3.
