She is embarking on a new journey with G2.
Mid Laner Manon "Sha" Legaignoux is set to join G2 Hel for the 2024 Season, according to sources from Sheep Esports. Still under development, the female and non-binary scene holds many surprises for fans and teams alike. Last year, G2 Hel competed in several tournaments, such as the Equal Esports Cup, the PATHFINDERS series, and the GIRLGAMER Worlds Finals.
A Rising Scene
First formed in September 2022, G2 Hel was one of the first teams to invest in the rising European female scene. Following the success of the VALORANT Game Changers initiative, numerous European organizations are now striving to build a comparable tournament series in League of Legends.
Building on past established structures, Riot Games and the esports player foundation helped kick-start the scene last year through the organization of the Equal Esports Cup 2023. Marking the largest LoL Female competition to date in Europe, the tournament featured a 3-month-long competition in which teams from all over Europe competed, notably G2 Hel and BDS Valkyries.
Middling Year for G2H
Heralded as the best team on paper in the scene, G2 Hel had a challenging season in 2023. While the team won all three PATHFINDERS tournaments this year, it faltered in larger competitions. Despite a strong start to their season, G2H showed cracks in the latter half of the year. Making their first change to the jungle position in May, the team attempted to fix their growing pains through the signing of Marta "Shiina" Mesas Garrido.
Struggling, they would quickly find themselves hitting a wall while competing in the EEC. Despite multiple qualifiers' participation, G2H found itself unable to rise above 4th place after winning the very first EEC tournament. Carried by their earlier performances, the team would still advance to the tournament's main stage. Hoping to redeem their past results, the team headed into the tournament hopeful.
Unfortunately, G2H was quickly swept and finished last in the tournament with a cumulative score of 1 win and 4 losses. Losing to SK Avarosa and BDS Valkyries, it was clear that the team's current roster struggled to rival the best teams in the scene, despite its success in the PATHFINDERS series.
A Big Opportunity
Announcing the departure of their previous mid laner, Alena "Tifa" Maurer, G2 Hel has since been on the lookout for a new talented player to fill the vacant spot in its roster.
Coming in as one of the most impressive players of the EEC, Sha is now set to start a new adventure on the famed organization's roster. Winning the EEC 2nd Qualifier and beating several high-profile teams over the year, the French mid laner has proved herself as a strong contender to rise in the scene and prove herself on a star-studded roster.
Despite boasting less experience than her predecessor, she is expected to be a strong addition to G2H's roster next year and should help elevate the team to new heights. While BDS only finished in 3rd position in the EEC, Sha was considered by many to have been one of the best mid laners of the tournament from an individual standpoint.
Having competed for a few organizations since starting her competitive career in 2021, this move represents a huge opportunity for the soon-to-be 23-year-old player.
