After 2 years in the LEC, Sertuss now re-joins the Spanish league.
Mid-Laner Daniel "Sertuss" Gamani reached a verbal agreement with Team Heretics last night to replace Artur "Zwyroo" Trojan on the organization's academic line-up in the LVP SuperLiga, sources told Sheep Esports on Tuesday. This move comes as a direct response to the last-minute benching of former star mid-laner Luka "Perkz" Perković from the team's LEC roster, which led to the promotion of Zwyroo.
Sertuss Returns to Pro Play
Spending the last two years under the banner of SK Gaming, Sertuss is a mid-laner whose name should ring a bell in most European viewers' ears. Now a seasoned player, the German mid-laner unfortunately found himself teamless this year, following SK's acquisition of Nisqy. While Sertuss has proved serviceable during his time in the LEC, the player could not find a spot in the league simply due to the discrepancies between the number of free agents on the market and the availability of mid-lane spots in the LEC.
Through this move, Sertuss is now set to return to the ERL eco-system and play in the SuperLiga for the first time since summer of 2018. During his tenure with SK Gaming, Sertuss saw the most success in winter of 2023, where he reached 4th place in the LEC. Before joining the LEC, he was also most known for his time under Misfits Premier and Schalke 04.
A myriad of changes for Heretics
As previously reported on Sheep Esports, Team Heretics has made several moves following the LEC 2024 Winter Split. Ending the split in 7th position, the team decided to make changes to try and improve its results ahead of the Spring Split. Earlier last month, the team was first reported to have acquired Adrian "Trymbi" Trybus to become the team's starting support, replacing Norman "Kaiser" Kaiser. While this initial move did not impact the team's SuperLiga roster, what came after it would.
Coming in as a second unexpected move, the team then decided to bench its star-studded mid-laner Luka "Perkz" Perković in favor of Artur "Zwyroo" Trojan, Heretics' academy mid-laner. As was now officially announced, the team expects these moves to fix its ongoing issues with the roster in leadership and communications.
With Zwyroo now moving on to the LEC, the team has since then been looking for a replacement to uphold its results in the SuperLiga. Per sources, while the team's negotiations dragged on and several free agents were contacted, Sertuss remained as Heretics' clear number-one option throughout this period. Having reached an agreement yesterday, the team has since then discarded other options, opting to go with the veteran German mid-laner.
At this time, Zwyroo is expected to keep on playing for Los Heretics in the SuperLiga for the remainder of this week, while also competing in the LEC this week-end. Sources indicate that Sertuss will begin taking on Zwyroo's role next week when he becomes eligible to compete.
