The tournament is set to take place between Winter and Spring.
According to Sheep Esports sources, Riot Games is currently planning to host a third international tournament between the Winter and Spring Seasons next year. At this time, the location and format of the tournament remain under work, but sources have indicated that at least one team per major region would be invited.
Creating New Milestones for LoL Esports
While little details are known about the event, rumblings of a new international event have been growing within the past few months. Correlating with this news, sources have indicated that other regions may currently be working on major restructurations of their local formats, notably to accommodate the new tournament. Sheep Esports can only confirm that the LCS is exploring a potential move towards a 3-split format, similar to the LEC’s. While the future of the LCK and LPL’s formats remains unknown, it is expected that some change will occur to accommodate a required qualification path during the year's first season.
The tournament is set to occur between the Winter and Spring splits, meaning that the tournament would take place somewhere between March and April. Due to this, it is also likely that the rest of the standard League of Legends Esports calendar would be pushed back, with MSI taking place later than its current May scheduling. At this time, Sheep Esports cannot confirm the presence of minor regions at the tournament, though it is likely that they will attend as well.
Upon reaching out to Riot Games for comment, Sheep Esports received the following response from a spokesperson: “We plan to have an update on the 2025 LoL Esports schedule in June.”
