With the changes in format for next year, only two LTA South organizations are expected to continue with Academy
With the recent changes to the LTA South, the CBLOL Academy will lose its essence — unlike in the old model, teams will be able to use Tier 2 to earn a place among the LoL elite of Brazil starting in 2025.
Sheep Esports has learned that, of the six Brazilian teams in the LTA South, only two will continue to field an Academy roster next year. The two organizations are RED Canids and Vivo Keyd Stars, who are already active on the market in search of players for their second team.
The report was also able to ascertain that LOUD, Fluxo, FURIA and paiN will not continue in Tier 2 of the competition, choosing instead to focus all their efforts on their LTA South rosters for next year. According to several sources, the new format and rules of the competition — which will be announced in the next few days by Riot Games — were the main reasons teams chose to leave the Academy scene.
What about the other organizations?
Of the teams that weren't selected for the LTAS, only LOS has given the green light to continue in League next year. When asked for comment, the organization made a committed statement about remaining in Tier 2 for next year and focused on continuing to invest in the sport:
“LOS is experiencing a solid moment of growth. Although we didn't get a place in the top league, we're sticking to our investment plan to offer our fans a competitive team with our unique DNA for creating talent. Next year, we will focus on Tier 2, with the goal of reaching the elite through the access leagues.
We remain committed to great talent, with outstanding players and coaches such as BrTT, Ranger, Lava, Hirit, Stardust, Kabbie and Seize. Our vision of training and excellence will continue to guide us as we move forward.
We are ready to strengthen our base and aim for the top, always in line with our fans.”
Liberty, for their part, established alongside the LTA South announcements that they would no longer be involved in the sport, choosing to cease operations in esports entirely.
Finally, INTZ remains an unknown quantity. With serious financial problems in recent months and their failure to be approved for LTA South, the team will need to take some time to re-establish itself before it can establish itself again.
