The American organization NRG is looking to replace Marved on the starting roster of their VCT team, after recent underperformances.
According to sources close to Sheep Esports, the American organization NRG is set to bench Jimmy “Marved” Nguyen for their upcoming VCT Americas Stage 2. While a replacement has not yet been secured, it seems that the organization will not have Marved on their starting roster in the near future.
An underperforming superteam.
Preparing for 2024, NRG was able to secure the services of a roster full of star power. Achieving a roster of Ethan “Ethan” Arnold, Max “Demon1” Mazanov, and Marved in the offseason, many were expecting NRG to secure titles regionally in the VCT Americas and contest strongly internationally.
After failing to qualify for Masters Madrid earlier in the year and just recently failing to qualify for playoffs in the VCT Americas Stage 1, the team is providing underwhelming results so far, compared to its expectations.
A slump in form.
Marved, previously an important part of the successful 2022 Optic Gaming roster, has been in search of his previous highs ever since leaving the organization. After Optic Gaming failed to secure a partnership spot in the new Americas League, the organization decided to part ways with its roster.
Marved, then without a organization, started without a starting spot on a roster into the partnership era but was soon able to secure himself a spot on the team of the American organization Sentinels in march 2023. After underwhelming results, failing to qualify for an international tournament during the year, Sentinels decided to part ways with Marved for the 2024 Season.
Starting 2024, Marved received a starting spot on the hugely anticipated NRG roster. The team failed to deliver on the high expectations, just recently falling out of Stage 1 in the VCT Americas in a joint 9th-10th place finish. Now, with his future again uncertain, it is to be seen where Marved will provide his services in the time to come.
