The alignment of the Blue Stars has begun. Following the agreement with Costin “Hazel” Pestrițu, Karmine Corp have secured a second player for their second academy team, which will compete in LFL Division 2. According to Sheep Esports sources, Mathis “MathisV” Vannieuwenhuyse is set to be the midlaner of the team for the upcoming season. Panda, Warner, and Secret have also been considered.

At just 16 years old—and still a high school student—MathisV has limited competitive experience so far, with his résumé consisting of four stages in the Nexus Tour 2024, including the Gamers Assembly, where he competed with Equality Corp.

An OTP Yasuo/Zed player, the young midlaner reached a peak of 1000 LPs this season. During Karmine Corp’s tryouts, MathisV stood out by achieving a pentakill with Sylas. He is also one of the top-ranked players on the Discord server run by GIANTX coach Nicolas Perez. This server, created just after the announcement of the KCBS project, aims to support promising young talent and help them develop. In the most recent update shared by Nicolas Perez on Sunday on X, MathisV ranked 9th —with Hazel in 6th.

Three spots remaining

MathisV’s recruitment underscores Karmine Corp’s strategy of identifying and nurturing relatively unknown players with potential, hoping they may one day progress to the LFL team—or perhaps even the LEC squad. Three roster spots remain to be reported, with positions unknown in the toplane, jungle, and support roles. The team’s age cap has been set at 19, further emphasizing the organization’s commitment to fostering young talent.
