G2 has locked a replacement for the greatest Western support of all time
Labros "Labrov" Papoutsakis has reached an agreement to join G2 Esports in the LEC ahead of the 2025 season, according to Sheep Esports sources. Almost immediately after G2's elimination from Worlds, Sheep Esports reported that Mihael "Mikyx" Mehle and Martin "Yike" Sundelin had been permitted to explore their options in the offseason without a buyout. On the heels of effectively releasing two of their players, G2 have already locked down a new support.
Labrov has played for Team BDS since the 2023 LEC season, establishing himself as one of the best in his role. With Labrov and Yoon "Ice" Sang-hoon, Team BDS boasted one of the strongest botlane duos in the league, a key piece to their success this year. Though the team narrowly missed out on Worlds and MSI, their third-place finish in all three splits is nothing to scoff at.
Other teams showed interest in the Greek support, including Team Heretics, SK Gaming, GiantX, and Rogue. Labrov, though, always prioritized joining G2 Esports.
The domestic Golden Road wasn't enough
With strong individual performances for years, Labrov finally drew the interest of the LEC's dominant, unchallenged kings — G2. Since Rasmus "Caps" Winther joined the team ahead of the 2019 season, G2 has won three-fourths of all LEC titles. Still, this roster — as beloved as it was — failed to make it out of the swiss stage at Worlds two years in a row. This year's domestic Golden Road wasn't enough for G2.
Labrov is set to step into the shoes of the greatest Western support of all time amid sky-high expectations. With a star-studded roster featuring Sergen "BrokenBlade" Çelik, Steven "Hans Sama" Liv, and the Western GOAT, Caps, all eyes will be on G2's new talent as they set their sights on the elusive Worlds trophy. Only one spot remains on the roster.
As G2 finalize their LEC roster, Sheep Esports will continue to report on their offseason. To keep up with the offseason at large, check out the Sheep Esports Transfers Hub for more reporting about final roster decisions.
