Kobbe has remained inactive in the competitive scene since his departure from Astralis at the end of Summer 2023
A new European Tier 1 veteran is set to join the NLC. According to Sheep Esports sources, Kasper "Kobbe" Kobberup will be signing with Venomcrest Esports, an organization that has opted for a complete roster overhaul following a disappointing Winter Split in the Northern League (9-10th). This marks the first time since 2015 that the Danish AD Carry will not be competing at the highest regional level. Kobbe initially entered the EU LCS in 2016 with Splyce and spent nearly eight consecutive seasons in the European elite of League of Legends. After four years with Splyce, he ventured into the NA LCS with TSM in Spring 2020 but returned to the LEC by the Summer Split, joining Misfits Gaming.
His extensive tenure in the league came to an end after two seasons with Astralis in 2022 and 2023. He lost his spot when the Danish organization sold its LEC slot to Karmine Corp and has since remained inactive in the competitive scene. Despite his longevity in the EU LCS and LEC, Kobbe never managed to secure a title. His strongest performance came in his debut season when he reached the Summer 2016 final, but his more recent splits proved challenging. With Astralis, he placed 9th and then 10th in the LEC in 2022 before exiting the league with another 9th-place finish in Summer 2023.
Danish reunion
Ironically, it was in Tier 2—where he is now returning—that Kobbe claimed his only title, winning the EU CS Summer 2015 (the former European second division) with Dignitas. His return to competition presents an opportunity to close the chapter of his career on a more positive note, potentially ending it as he began. To that end, Venomcrest Esports has, according to Sheep Esports sources, assembled a roster featuring four other seasoned Danish players: Rafael "Doxy" Zarabi in the toplane, Jonas "Knighter" Jensen in the midlane, and Daniel "Wendelbo" Wendelbo as support. Originally an AD Carry, then briefly a support with Entropiq at the start of 2025, Frederik "Guubi" Mortensen will once again role-swap, this time stepping into the jungle position to round out the lineup.
None of these four veterans have had the opportunity to compete in the LEC, yet they bring the advantage of strong familiarity with one another. Guubi, Knighter, and Wendelbo notably finished first in the NLC 2023 Summer Split regular season while playing for Verdant, though they fell short in the playoffs, ultimately securing third place. Doxy, too, has shared the stage with two of his new teammates. The toplaner claimed victory in the NLC Fall Open alongside Wendelbo in 2020, then competed alongside Guubi in two separate stints: the Spring 2021 PG Nationals with MKers and, three years later, the NLC Spring 2024 with Verdant.
