Many toplaners were considered
Karmine Corp have announced the signing of Toplaner Kim "Canna" Chang-dong for their LEC roster this Summer Split 2024. While sources close to Sheep Esports weren't able to confirm this move quickly enough, other informations have come our way.
The acquisition of Canna took some time as Karmine Corp explored other options over the course of the offseason, the team also held tryouts in all positions for some time.
Karmine Corp tryouts
Before securing Canna, Karmine Corp held tryouts in Europe for a few days. Toplaner Mohamed "Boda" Yahia was one candidate for the French team. Despite being noticed earlier by KC, Boda impressed many fans recently at EMEA Masters as his team Nigma Galaxy qualified to playoffs, a historic result for a team coming from the Arabian League.
Karmine Corp Blue Toplaner Volodymyr "Maynter" Sorokin was also considered by the team. The player had an impressive LFL debut this year before lifting the trophy this Spring Split. However, this option seemed difficult due to the complicated situation with his homecountry, Ukraine.
Scouting on the other side
On top of tryouts, Karmine Corp have considered many Toplaners during the offseason. At first, the French team was very close to securing Toplaner Park "Thanatos" Seung-gyu who ended up joining Cloud9 instead.
Other toplaners such as Kim "Ssumday" Chan-ho, Kim "Zest" Dong-min, and more recently Baek "Mihile" Sang-hwi, were considered over the course of the offseason. In the end, Karmine Corp opted for a proven veteran toplaner from South-Korea in Kim "Canna" Chang-dong.
While those toplaners had various degrees of interest, Karmine Corp was also considering keeping Lucas "Cabochard" Simon-Meslet on the roster over the course of the offseason.
