He will assist Nightshare in the LEC.
Coach Pablo "Gaax" Vegas Pérez has reached an agreement to join Fnatic in the LoL EMEA Championship (LEC), according to Sheep Esports sources. Taking on his first official tenure in the league, he will be assisting Tomáš "Nightshare" Kněžínek, who is set to remain as the team's head coach.
A Strategic Edge
At 22 years old, Gaax will make his entry into the LEC for the first time in his career. Previously a semi-professional support player, he transitioned into the role of coach towards the start of 2022. First serving as a positional coach for INFINITY in the LLA, he eventually returned to his home region and joined Fnatic's academic division in the LVP SuperLiga.
During his time in the league, Gaax helped as an assistant coach and analyst under the veteran Joshua "Jarge" Smith, who previously coached Fnatic in the LEC along with other LCS teams. Together, the two would help achieve a third place finish in the league's regular season before eventually ending their playoffs run in 4th place.
Later on in the second half of the year, Gaax would find himself promoted to head coach. Unfortunately, plagued by rumors indicating interest from FNTQ to leave the league, the team would under perform massively. Struggling to find their footing, they would eventually end the summer split in ninth position with only five wins.
Despite those struggles, Gaax's proficiency both as a coach and a support player is expected to bring a tactical edge to the new Fnatic roster. Having recently reached an agreement with the South Korean support rookie Yoon "Jun" Se-jun, the addition of this new coach should in theory help the new player adapt to a professional setting and properly integrate with the rest of the roster.
